Next-generation compact, high‑throughput automated put‑wall designed fore‑commerce and omnichannel fulfilment operations with diverse sku bases.

EuroSort will unveil E‑Sort, a next‑generation automated put‑wall solution featuring its patent‑pending SmartWall, at LogiMAT 2026 (Messe Stuttgart, 24–26 March; Hall 3, Stand 3A67) before introducing the solution to the US market at MODEX 2026 (Georgia World Congress Center, Atlanta, 13–16 April; Booth B9904).

Developed for distribution centres where labour is scarce, space is at a premium and the number of SKU’s continues to grow, E‑Sort delivers dense destination capacity and high throughput (up to 28,000 items per hour) item sortation in a compact footprint; ideal for e‑commerce order consolidation and omnichannel operations.

“Fulfilment leaders face a very particular set of constraints: rising SKU counts, tight SLAs, limited floorspace and ongoing labour scarcity. Our E-Sort solution addresses all four by combining high‑density destinations with genuinely high throughput in a compact form. It’s a practical, scalable way to increase capacity and reduce cost‑per‑order— Rens Gehling, Commercial Director, EuroSort

E-Sort is a combination of the well-known Split Tray/Bombay Sorter (Single, Dual or Quad) combined with an innovative new technology called the SmartWall. The SmartWall consists of 5 individual lifts that can bring the item to multiple destinations working like an automated put-wall.

“E-Sort is not completely new; it’s founded on our Split Tray Sorter that has been in operation across the globe for well over 20 years, combined with the patent-pending SmartWall. The SmartWall is the real innovation of this solution giving you the possibility to configure the walls to your requirements with chutes, totes or shelves – single- or dual-sided. Crucially those configurations can be adopted over time as assortments change. A real gamechanger for e-commerce or omnichannel operations.” – Greg Meyer, President Sales and Marketing, EuroSort

E-Sort Benefits

Ultra‑flexible: Configure walls with chutes, totes and shelves, single‑ or dual‑sided, to match your order profiles and product range.

High volume, small footprint: Achieve high volume (from 1.5k to 28k items/h), high‑density sort locations for multi‑SKU e-commerce orders while minimizing floor space. Our small footprint also makes the E-Sort very suitable for brownfield operations, eliminating the need to move to a new facility.

Broad product handling range: Proven tray technology processes boxed, bagged, unbagged and irregular shaped items (up to ~375 × 575 × 200 mm, 5 kg) with accuracy and care. Ideal for fashion, pharmaceuticals, books, consumer goods and parcel/returns flows.

Reliability and simplicity: Modular sections scale destinations (up to 80 per 2,5m segment) with mechanical simplicity and low maintenance for sustained uptime, even through peak seasons.

Integrates with real‑world operations: Compatible with all goods-to-person systems, existing conveyor architecture, all with straightforward WMS/WCS interfacing—supporting staged automation (start manual, add further automation later).

Use cases

The highly flexible nature of the E-Sort means it can be used in different types of operations for a wide range of product types. Whether you are:

  • Moving from a manual to a mechanized/automated operation. Even without massive throughput needs, the E-Sort shines. You’ll get many destinations on a very small footprint allowing for much quicker e-commerce order handling, requiring less labor.
  • Running a large E-Commerce operation. The E-Sort can scale up to an almost unlimited number of destinations, giving your e-com operations the benefit of high-speed sorting with a single solution in a small footprint.
  • Running an Omnichannel operation. The E-Sort can help companies who are currently already running fulfilment operations for brick-and-mortar stores and are seeing a large increase in online orders (or the other way around) to fulfil their needs on a single sorting solution. From inbound to outbound and returns the E-Sort can help process your online and retail orders simultaneously due to its flexible exit design, combining traditional chutes with the SmartWall.

Technical snapshot

  • Throughput: 1,500–28,000 items/hour (configuration dependent)
