Ab heute stehen das österreichische Klagenfurt und die nähere Umgebung wieder ganz im Zeichen elektrisierender Automobile und Showcars, die Fans begeistern werden. Denn bis zum Samstag, 16. Mai, findet hier die XS CARNIGHT Wörthersee Edition statt. Mit einer Mischung aus Fahrzeugausstellungen und weiteren öffentlichen Programmpunkten wird das Festival wieder die Community in seinen Bann ziehen. Opel ist wie schon in den vergangenen Jahren mittendrin und zeigt in jeder Hinsicht außergewöhnliche, leistungsstarke Modelle und Unikate. Mit dem neuen batterie-elektrischen Mokka GSE, dem Prototyp des kommenden Corsa GSE und der High-Performance-Studie Corsa GSE Vision Gran Turismo steht bei Opel in diesem Jahr alles unter dem Motto „GSE – Gänsehaut, Speed und elektrische Emotionen“.

Die Veranstalter der XS CARNIGHT Wörthersee erwarten in den nächsten Tagen wieder rund 25.000 Besucher, die zu den unterschiedlichen Veranstaltungen strömen werden. Los geht’s bereits heute in den Droneberger Studios. Hier ist genauso wie auf der morgigen Ausstellung auf dem Klagenfurter Marktplatz der Eintritt frei. Schon wenige Minuten nach der Ticketöffnung war die am Freitag auf Schloss Mageregg stattfindende XS CARNIGHT Classic ausverkauft. Das Highlight mit allen Opel-Fahrzeugen vor Ort erwartet die Fans dann am Samstag in der Messe Klagenfurt: Dort zieht Opel das große GSE-Register.

Opel GSE: Elektrische Alltagssportler und Hochleistungsstudien mit Wow-Effekt

Ein echter Alltagssportler für die Straße ist der neue Opel Mokka GSE. Mit einer Spitzenleistung von 207 kW (281 PS) ist der Serien-Stromer genauso stark wie sein Motorsport-Pendant Mokka GSE Rally. Mit einem unmittelbar anliegenden Drehmoment von 345 Newtonmetern packt er ebenso kompromisslos zu. So beschleunigt der Mokka GSE in nur 5,9 Sekunden von 0 auf 100 km/h. Und mit einer Spitzengeschwindigkeit von 200 km/h ist der aktuelle „Goldenes Lenkrad“^[2]-Titelträger der bis dato schnellste vollelektrische Serien-Opel. Hinzu kommen vom Rallye-Fahrzeug inspirierte Technik und zahlreiche Design- und Ausstattungs-Details, die pure Emotionen vermitteln.

Wer weiteren scharfen, hochdynamischen elektrischen Fahrspaß erleben will, muss nicht mehr lange warten. Einen Vorgeschmack gibt in Klagenfurt der neue Opel Corsa GSE, der noch in diesem Jahr die GSE-Modellpalette erweitern wird. Mit 207 kW (281 PS) und 345 Newtonmeter wird er ebenso viel Elektro-Power bieten wie der Mokka GSE. Im gleichen Zug wird die künftige Spitzenversion von Deutschlands beliebtestem Kleinwagen noch einen Wimpernschlag dynamischer. Denn mit einer Beschleunigung von nur 5,5 Sekunden von 0 auf 100 km/h³ drückt der High-Performance-Corsa seinen Fahrer beim Anfahren und Überholen so vehement in den GSE-Performance-Sitz wie derzeit kein anderes Opel-Serienmodell. Auf der XS CARNIGHT Wörthersee wird der „Hot Hatch“ in seinem extravagant designten Camouflage-Kleid zu sehen sein.

Einen Blick auf die Zukunft des High-Performance-Labels GSE ermöglich in Klagenfurt der aufsehenerregende Opel Corsa GSE Vision Gran Turismo. Die Studie steht mit einer Systemleistung von 588 kW (800 PS), 800 Newtonmeter Drehmoment, einer Beschleunigung von 0 auf 100 km/h in 2,0 Sekunden und 320 km/h Spitze für elektrische Hochleistung pur. Vor Ort ist sie erstmals in ihrem neuen schwarz-grauen Matt-Design zu sehen und wirkt so noch kraftvoller. Zugleich lässt der Corsa GSE Vision Gran Turismo als erstes Konzeptfahrzeug der Marke die digitale mit der realen Welt verschmelzen. Dies können die Besucher auch live erleben – indem sie den Elektro-Boliden im Rennsimulator Gran Turismo 7 selbst fahren.

German manufacturer Opel will become a key partner of German handball after signing two significant sponsorship agreements. Opel will become a strategic partner of the German national handball teams – both women’s and men’s – from July 1, 2026. The commitment runs for three years. At the same time, Opel will be the new title sponsor of the strongest handball league in the world, which will be officially named ‘Opel Handball-Bundesliga’. For three seasons, the Rüsselsheim-based manufacturer will electrify all 18 Bundesliga clubs, all games and, above all, fans across Germany and beyond. With a holistic strategy of comprehensive activation and financial support, Opel is becoming a strategic partner of German handball. The partnerships with the association and the league were brokered by the sports rights and marketing agency SPORTFIVE.

With these new partnerships, Opel is continuing its commitment to sport, which has a history spanning more than 130 years. At the same time, the brand with Blitz aims to further sharpen its sporting profile and further establish the hugely popular and growing sport of handball in the heart of society.

With the world’s first all-electric rally one-make cup, Opel has been underlining its pioneering role and competence in exciting locally emissions-free motorsport that inspires customers and fans for five years now. The entry into Formula E reinforces this claim. Jetzt schlägt der Rüsselsheimer Blitz beim Handball ein – und das gleich doppelt. Opel wird ab 1. Juli 2026 strategischer Partner der deutschen Handball-Nationalmannschaften – sowohl der Frauen als auch der Männer. Das Engagement erstreckt sich über drei Jahre. Zum gleichen Zeitpunkt übernimmt Opel die Namensrechte an der stärksten Liga der Welt, die damit offiziell zur „Opel Handball-Bundesliga“ wird. Opel and ADAC are opening a new chapter in electric rallying with the ADAC Opel GSE Rally Cup. In the sixth season of the world’s first electric one-make rally cup, the new Opel Mokka GSE Rally will replace the Corsa Rally Electric as the competition car. With an output of up to 207 kW (281 hp) and torque of 345 Newton metres, the new customer sports rally car is more than twice as powerful as its predecessor and will be in the range of a Rally4 car in terms of performance.

However, the competition vehicle is not the only novelty. The charging infrastructure in the ADAC Opel GSE Rally Cup also sets new standards. Instead of tapping into the green electricity from the public grid, battery storage systems are being used this season with electric trucks placing these exactly where they are needed. This makes it possible to charge at different locations between the special stages and thus guarantees even more competition kilometres for the participants.

The calendar of the ADAC Opel GSE Rally Cup 2026 leaves nothing to be desired in terms of attractiveness and variety. Seven races in six European countries (Germany, Austria, the Netherlands, Belgium, France and Italy) are on the programme. One of the highlights of the demanding calendar is undoubtedly the appearance of the Mokka GSE Rally at the traditional Sanremo Rally in October.

The field of participants in the ADAC Opel GSE Rally Cup is more international than ever. Drivers and teams from nine nations, including Italy and Great Britain for the first time, will compete for points when the season starts at the ELE Rally around Eindhoven in the Netherlands on May 29 and 30.

One thing all participants have in common is the big goal of qualifying for promotion to the ADAC Opel Rally Junior Team with top performances in the Electric Cup. In the Junior European Rally Championship (JERC), the top talents will then be able to compete with the best young drivers on the continent in the works Opel Corsa Rally4 fielded by Opel Motorsport partner Stohl Racing. This ADAC and Opel support programme, which has been running since the 2014 season, is unique in the rally world. Six Junior European Championship titles (2015 to 2018 as well as 2022 and 2025) speak for Opel Motorsport’s successful talent development programme.

Strong German-speaking trio in the Opel Corsa Rally4

The consistency of Opel’s talent promotion is evident in the line-up of the ADAC Opel Rally Junior Team for the JERC 2026, which starts on May 22 in Sweden. With Tom Heindrichs, Timo Schulz and Claire Schönborn, three talents who have made a name for themselves in the ADAC Opel Electric Rally Cup will be behind the wheel of the works Corsa Rally4.

Tom Heindrichs (22) was born and raised in the German-speaking part of Belgium. Last October, the brother of former World Rally Champion Thierry Neuville secured the ADAC Opel Electric Rally Cup title in a dramatic season finale at the Central European Rally. As a reward for the strong performance, Heindrichs will try to follow in the footsteps of the reigning Junior European Rally Champion Calle Carlberg. The Swede won the title in the ADAC Opel Electric Rally Cup in 2023 and prevailed against the European junior elite in the Opel factory team last year.

His predecessor as electric champion, Timo Schulz (26), is entering his third season in the ADAC Opel Rally Junior Team this year. In the 2023 season, he demonstrated his enormous potential in the Corsa Rally4 with class victories at the Barum Czech Rally Zlìn, which is part of the JERC, as well as the Central European Rally.

Claire Schönborn (26) started her career as a racing driver in hill climbing. As the first woman and youngest participant of all time, the German won the title in the KW Berg-Cup in 2024. In the same year, she made a guest appearance in the ADAC Opel Electric Rally Cup at the ADAC Rallye Stemweder Berg. The convincing debut was the starting signal for a meteoric rise. Against strong international competition, Schönborn won the ‘Beyond Rally’ programme and thus secured a complete season in the Junior World Championship. This season, she will take the next steps in her driving development in the ADAC Opel Rally Junior Team with the support of Manfred Stohl and his experienced crew.

Like Timo Schulz, Claire Schönborn will also compete in the ADAC Opel GSE Rally Cup parallel to her JERC appearances. The handling of the overlap between Cup and JERC in August (ADAC Saarland-Palatinate Rally and Barum Czech Rally Zlín) will be determined by the course of the season.

Mit dem ADAC Opel GSE Rally Cup schlagen die Partner Opel und ADAC ein neues Kapitel im elektrischen Rallyesport auf. Im sechsten Jahr des weltweit ersten elektrischen Rallye-Markenpokals löst der neue Opel Mokka GSE Rally den Corsa Rally Electric als Wettbewerbsfahrzeug ab. Mit einer Leistung von bis zu 207 kW (281 PS) und einem satten Drehmoment von 345 Newtonmeter ist der neue Kundensportrenner mehr als doppelt so stark wie sein Vorgänger und wird sich in Bezug auf die Performance im Bereich eines Rally4-Fahrzeugs bewegen.

Doch nicht nur das Wettbewerbsfahrzeug ist neu. Auch die Ladeinfrastruktur im ADAC Opel GSE Rally Cup setzt neue Maßstäbe. Statt den Grün-Strom vom öffentlichen Netz abzuzapfen, kommen in dieser Saison Batteriespeicher zum Einsatz, die von Elektro-Trucks dort platziert werden, wo sie gebraucht werden. So wird das Laden an verschiedenen Orten zwischen den Wertungsprüfungen möglich und garantiert damit noch mehr Wettbewerbskilometer für die Teilnehmer.

Der Terminkalender des ADAC Opel GSE Rally Cup 2026 lässt an Attraktivität und Abwechslung nichts zu wünschen übrig. Sieben Wertungsläufe in sechs europäischen Ländern (Deutschland, Österreich, Niederlande, Belgien, Frankreich und Italien) stehen auf dem Programm. Starkes deutschsprachiges Trio im Opel Corsa Rally4

Die Stimmigkeit der Talentförderung von Opel zeigt sich im Line-up des ADAC Opel Rally Junior Teams für die JERC 2026, die am 22. Mai in Schweden startet. Mit Tom Heindrichs, Timo Schulz und Claire Schönborn steuern drei Talente die Werks-Corsa Rally4, die in der Vergangenheit im ADAC Opel Electric Rally Cup für Aufsehen sorgten.

Tom Heindrichs (22) ist im deutschsprachigen Teil Belgiens geboren und aufgewachsen. Im vergangenen Oktober sicherte sich der Bruder von Ex-Rallye-Weltmeister Thierry Neuville in einem dramatischen Saisonfinale bei der Central European Rally den Titel im ADAC Opel Electric Rally Cup. Als Lohn für die starke Leistung wird Heindrichs versuchen, in die Fußstapfen des amtierenden Junior-Europameisters Calle Carlberg zu treten. Der Schwede hatte 2023 den Titelgewinn im ADAC Opel Electric Rally Cup gefeiert und sich im vergangenen Jahr im Opel-Werksteam gegen die europäische Junior-Elite durchgesetzt.

Sein Vorgänger als Elektro-Champion, Timo Schulz (26), geht in diesem Jahr in seine dritte Saison im ADAC Opel Rally Junior Team. In der Saison 2023 hatte der Saarländer im Corsa Rally4 mit den Klassensiegen bei der zur JERC zählenden Barum Czech Rally Zlìn sowie der Central European Rally sein enormes Potenzial aufgezeigt.

Claire Schönborn (26) startete ihre Karriere als Rennfahrerin im Bergrennsport. Als erste Frau und jüngste Teilnehmerin aller Zeiten gewann die Hunsrückerin 2024 den Titel im KW Berg-Cup. Im selben Jahr bestritt sie im Zuge eines Gaststarts im ADAC Opel Electric Rally Cup bei der ADAC Rallye Stemweder Berg ihre erste Rallye. Das überzeugende Debüt war der Startschuss für einen kometenhaften Aufstieg. Gegen starke internationale Konkurrenz gewann Schönborn das „Beyond Rally“-Programm des WM-Promoters und sicherte sich damit eine komplette Saison in der Junior-Weltmeisterschaft. In dieser Saison wird sie im ADAC Opel Rally Junior Team mit Unterstützung von Manfred Stohl und seiner erfahrenen Crew die nächsten Schritte in ihrer fahrerischen Entwicklung gehen.

Wie Timo Schulz wird auch Claire Schönborn parallel zu ihren JERC-Einsätzen im ADAC Opel GSE Rally Cup an den Start gehen. Das Handling der Terminüberschneidung zwischen Cup und JERC im August (ADAC Saarland-Pfalz Rally und Barum Czech Rally Zlín) wird durch den aktuellen Saisonverlauf bestimmt.

Shortly before the Stellantis‘ Investor Day 2026, Opel has unveiled a key project under development in its model strategy: a completely new, all-electric SUV in the important and highly competitive C-segment that would extend the current line-up. With Stellantis and Leapmotor contemplating an expansion of their partnership, the new vehicle is intended to serve as a blueprint for efficient global collaboration. Simultaneously, it would enable the German manufacturer to take a major strategic step forward in terms of electrification and scaling in the shortest possible time with sales of the newcomer expected to start as early as 2028. The new Opel C-SUV is expected to be on sale alongside the current SUV-range consisting of the Opel Grandland, Frontera and Mokka.

"The SUV would be is designed and created by us at Opel in Rüsselsheim and developed by international teams located in Germany and China. The partnership with Leapmotor should enable a development time of less than two years. With this, Opel is planning a further important step in the development of state-of-the-art and accessible electric vehicles for our customers," said Opel CEO Florian Huettl.

The new vehicle would be expected to use core components of the latest Leapmotor electric architecture and battery technology, combined with Opel’s signature design, on-board experience, chassis engineering as well as lightning and seating technology.

The newcomer would benefit from the efficient Stellantis production network in Europe and its production in Zaragoza, Spain, alongside the Opel Corsa is under evaluation. The Spanish plant has been the home of Opel’s B-segment icon since 1982.

At the recent international dynamic launch, the Astra Sports Tourer Electric fleet consumed an average of just 15.7 kWh of electricity per 100 kilometres. This means the new all-electric estate – designed, developed and built at Opel’s headquarters in Rüsselsheim – is exactly in line with the official WLTP consumption figures³, even during real-world test drives on challenging routes.

15.7 kWh/100 km: Exemplary consumption figures under challenging conditions

The international dynamic launch and drive event usually represents an important external real-world test for a new model. This was also the case for the new Opel Astra and Opel Astra Sports Tourer. Journalists from 22 countries recently travelled to Croatia to experience the further-developed and freshly designed compact-class model from Rüsselsheim and to put it through its paces. In addition to the other powertrain options, the focus was particularly on the battery-electric Astra Sports Tourer Electric.

Over the course of around 200 test drives across Dalmatia, the journalists covered a total of more than 14,000 kilometres in the electric estates – with impressive results. For alongside its sporty yet comfortable driving characteristics, the Astra Sports Tourer Electric particularly excels in terms of highly efficient energy consumption. The average consumption figure calculated after all test drives is 15.7 kWh per 100 kilometres. This corresponds exactly to the official WLTP figures³ of 15.6-15.8 kWh per 100 kilometres.

The key difference: In Croatia, the tests were not carried out according to a fixed test pattern, but under real-world – and at times adverse – conditions. Media representatives drove the Astra Sports Tourer Electric fleet along challenging routes on town and country roads, past coastal towns and through winding mountain roads. All this under fluctuating temperatures and weather conditions. It is all the more impressive, then, that the Astra Sports Tourer Electric proves its efficiency even under these circumstances.

This exemplary efficiency also benefits all customers who wish to cover longer distances in the electric estate, whether in their daily lives or on holiday trips. The 115 kW (156 hp) Astra Sports Tourer Electric with its 58 kWh battery (55 kWh usable capacity) and thanks to further aerodynamic fine-tuning now enables a locally emissions-free range of up to 445 kilometres (WLTP¹) – allowing Astra Sports Tourer Electric drivers to travel around 35 kilometres further than before until the first charging stop. Denn beim jüngst erfolgten internationalen Medialaunch hat die Astra Sports Tourer Electric-Flotte im Durchschnitt nur 15,7 kWh Strom auf 100 Kilometer verbraucht. Damit liegt der neue Elektro-Kombi – entworfen, entwickelt und gebaut am Opel-Stammsitz Rüsselsheim – exakt im Bereich des offiziellen WLTP-Verbrauchswertes³, und das bei realen Testfahrten auf anspruchsvollen Strecken.

15,7 kWh/100 km: Vorbildliche Verbrauchswerte unter erschwerten Bedingungen

Die internationale Fahrvorstellung stellt im Regelfall stets den ersten richtigen externen Härtetest für ein neues Modell dar. So auch bei den neuen Opel Astra und Opel Astra Sports Tourer. Journalisten aus 22 Ländern waren vor Kurzem deshalb nach Kroatien gereist, um das weiterentwickelte und in frischem Design strahlende Kompaktklasse-Modell aus Rüsselsheim kennenzulernen und auf Herz und Nieren zu prüfen. Dabei stand neben den weiteren Antriebsarten insbesondere der batterie-elektrische Astra Sports Tourer Electric im Fokus.

Auf rund 200 Testfahrten quer durch Dalmatien legten die Journalisten zusammengerechnet mehr als 14.000 Kilometer in den Fahrzeugen der Elektro-Kombi-Flotte zurück – mit einem Ergebnis, das sich sehen lassen kann. Denn neben den sportlich-komfortablen Fahreigenschaften glänzt der Astra Sports Tourer Electric insbesondere auch mit einem höchst effizienten Energieverbrauch. Der nach allen Testfahrten ermittelte Durchschnittswert liegt bei 15,7 kWh pro 100 Kilometer. Dies entspricht genau den offiziellen WLTP-Angaben³ von 15,6-15,8 kWh auf 100 Kilometer.

Der entscheidende Unterschied: In Kroatien wurde nicht nach einem festgelegten Prüfmuster, sondern unter realen – und teils widrigen – Bedingungen getestet. So absolvierten die Medienvertreter mit der Astra Sports Tourer Electric-Flotte anspruchsvolle Strecken auf Orts- und Landstraßen vorbei an Küstenstädtchen genauso wie über Serpentinen durchs gebirgige Hinterland. Hinzu kamen schwankende Temperaturen und Wetterbedingungen. Umso beeindruckender ist es, dass der Astra Sports Tourer Electric auch unter diesen Umständen seine Effizienz unter Beweis stellt.

Von der vorbildlichen Effizienz profitieren auch alle Kunden, die mit dem Elektro-Kombi im Alltag oder auf Urlaubstour mal etwas längere Strecken zurücklegen wollen. Der 115 kW (156 PS) starke Astra Sports Tourer Electric ermöglicht mit seinem 58 kWh großen Akku (55 kWh nutzbare Kapazität) und dank aerodynamischem Feinschliff nun eine lokal emissionsfreie Reichweite von bis zu 445 Kilometern (WLTP¹) – so können Astra Sports Tourer Electric-Fahrer bis zum ersten Ladestopp rund 35 Kilometer weiter reisen als zuvor. Damit bietet der vollelektrische Kompaktklasse-Bestseller Fahrspaß mit Verantwortung. Denn in gerade einmal 9,5 Sekunden beschleunigt er von 0 auf 100 km/h. Das maximale Drehmoment von 270 Newtonmeter liegt dabei vom ersten Tipp aufs Pedal voll an. Erst bei 170 km/h Spitze ist elektronisch abgeregelt Schluss.

Hinzu kommen neue Details, die den Astra Sports Tourer Electric noch praktischer machen: So bietet der Stromer nun erstmals V2L – Vehicle to Load – und damit die Möglichkeit, beispielsweise am Urlaubsort externe Geräte wie E-Bikes zu laden, ohne auf weitere Stromquellen angewiesen zu sein.
