Blackstone Resources AG (SWX; symbol BLS, ISIN CH0460027110) is pleased to announce that its 100% subsidiary Blackstone Technology GmbH has won this year’s German Innovation Award 2022. The 3D screen printing technology developed by Blackstone for the production of sustainable and high-performance lithium-ion batteries received the "Gold" award. CEO Ulrich Ernst and CMO & CBDO Serhat Yilmaz personally accepted the prestigious award in Berlin on Tuesday.

The German Innovation Award honors cross-industry products and solutions that stand out for their user-centeredness and added value compared to previous solutions. The initiators (German Design Council) award prizes for innovations that shape the future and improve life. "Blackstone’s application met precisely these criteria," explains Ulrich Ernst. "Our environmentally friendly and particularly energy-efficient manufacturing process for high-performance batteries contributes to the success of the energy transition and can provide renewable energies safely and cleanly."

The jury’s reasons for awarding the prize to Blackstone: "Blackstone’s 3D-printed battery cells have an energy density that is 20% higher than that of conventionally manufactured lithium-ion batteries and can also be produced in a much more environmentally friendly, sustainable and efficient manner. Another remarkable advantage is an unprecedented flexibility of designs, which is not only interesting for the electric automotive industry, but also for manufacturers of battery-powered everyday products that need to be as small, handy and compact as possible. An important milestone on the road to widespread electrification."

Blackstone’s proprietary 3D screen printing, a high-speed multi-layer technology, uses a water-based manufacturing process that requires fewer critical raw materials and chemicals. Toxic solvents are dispensed with completely. Manufacturing and investment costs are also significantly reduced.  At the award ceremony in the Futurium in Berlin, Ulrich Ernst and Serhat Yilmaz personally accepted the German Innovation Award for Blackstone in front of representatives of the press.

"We are very pleased about this latest award for our technology," said Ulrich Ernst after the award ceremony in Berlin. "The technical edge of our battery cells, their environmental compatibility and the innovative nature of our development work are thus once again confirmed. We are proud that we will soon be able to use our award-winning technology in the production of new solid-state batteries."
