Gaming stations, Indie game developers and EA Sports heading to Berlin as IFA establishes a platform for gaming

Gaming and entertainment experiences play a significant role in the world of technology and they matter to consumers, which is why IFA is giving gaming its own platform for 2023.

Attendees will be able to button-bash their way through a wide selection of games while rubbing shoulders with key players from the gaming scene.

At IFA 2023, IFA Gaming Area will be part of the show on the main exhibition grounds. The space, which will be in operation for the full five days of IFA, will include an interactive area for attendees to enjoy a variety of titles. Additionally, IFA Gaming Night is set to take place at the state-of-the-art esports gaming venue LVL in Berlin on Saturday 2 September, which will offer even more free gaming stations and an interesting panel discussion.

The decision for gaming to assert itself at IFA comes amidst a predicted bright future for the industry. Total gaming revenue is expected to rise from US$227 billion in 2023 to US$312 billion in 2027, representing a 7.9% CAGR. With new experiences in the pipeline taking advantage of AR/VR and the cloud, and with 40% of Gen Z interested in playing games in a virtual space, there’s much to look forward to in the industry.

This year will be the springboard for a new gaming presence at IFA that will see the show’s organisers working with the local gaming scene, associations and partners to build out a platform for years to come. Attendees will be able to discuss topics such as post pandemic growth, games funding, and titles at both ends of the spectrum – AAA IP and exciting indie games.

“IFA 2023 is the year we set the stage for what will be an annual gaming presence complete with exciting experiences and meaningful conversations,” said Cornelia Schwobe, Sales Director, Consumer Electronics of IFA Management GmbH . “The games industry is predicted to grow significantly. We’re planning to continue the growth of gaming at IFA as well to reflect the continued appetite for the industry to be present at one of the world’s leading tech shows.”

IFA Gaming Area will be at Hall 11.2 and will include a hands-on EA SPORTS F1® 23 gaming experience and live stage programme. Additionally, indie game studios from Berlin such as Metagame AI, Grizzly Games and Legendary Play will be presenting their games over the course of IFA.

Meanwhile, over in the city at the IFA Gaming Night, IFA and LVL World of Gaming will open their doors for a night full of games and experiences for players and IFA visitors. Level Infinite will be showing its new game Synched and a selection of other indie game developers will have their titles on display such as Techno Bartner (from Dexai Art UG, CACTUS, Axon Flux), Beat Slayer (from Byte Rockers), The Fallen (from Vision Keeper Studio), NeoFlux Drift (from Broken Lobster), and Thronefall (from Grizzly Games).

The programme at IFA Gaming Night includes a gaming panel to discuss the current state of the gaming industry and current developments. A broad variety of perspectives will be shared by the panel, which will have the likes of Guilia Ortmann from JamFM, Joshua Neumann from Medienboard Berlin Brandenburg, Chiara Haller from Berlin esports Club, and Cornelia Schwobe from IFA Management taking part. The moderator will be Michael Liebe from Booster Space.
