Angst+Pfister AG, of Zürich, Switzerland, a leading  developer and manufacturer of technical components for the industrial and medical OEM markets, announces the acquisition of the MEMS pressure sensor die business of Acuity Incorporated, Fremont, California, USA.

Acuity Incorporated was founded in 2007 by the two pressure sensor industry legends Jim Knutti and Henry Allen (Founders of companies like IC Sensors and SMI) as a fabless supplier of high-performance MEMS-based pressure sensor dies. It provides low-pressure sensors Dies from 20 bar -down to 2.0 mbar. These products address the pressure sensor manufacturers need for high accuracy, stable performance, pricing and security of supply.

Angst+Pfister will operate the Acuity business under the roof of its subsidiary Angst+Pfister Sensors and Power (formerly known as Pewatron), ensure a seamless transition of the business within December 2023 and drive a respective growth strategy based on current & future customer requirements. Jim Knutti and Henry Allen will continue supporting Angst+Pfister in the coming years and focus on developing new pressure sensor die products together with the Angst+Pfister engineering team.

“We do hold a firm belief that Acuity is in the right hands at Angst+Pfister. They have a sustainable, long-term oriented business approach, the required capabilities in their team and the global reach in their organization. Customers will keep receiving great service and technical support. Henry and I are looking forward co-operating with the Angst+Pfister team to develop new, high performing pressure sensor die products" said Jim Knutti, the president of Acuity.

“We are excited to integrate the Acuity pressure sensor die technology into the Angst+Pfister product portfolio, have Jim & Henry co-operating with our design engineering teams and thereby expand the Angst+Pfister product & technology offering to our customers & partners in the pressure sensor market," says Thomas Schaller, Chief Operating Officer of Angst+Pfister Group.
