• Premier League: Opel brand ambassador Jürgen Klopp chases another title
  • Bundesliga: Borussia Dortmund eyes the German championship
  • Online platforms: BVB stars on the road with electric Opel models and quiz taxis
  • OPEL ARENA: 1. FSV Mainz 05 at home this Friday in DFB Cup

The football season is here again! For Opel brand ambassador, Jürgen Klopp, kick-off is on September 12 in the Premier League against newly promoted Leeds United, with Liverpool FC as the reigning champions. Opel’s partner clubs Borussia Dortmund and 1. FSV Mainz 05 will first have to play in the DFB Cup this coming weekend before the ball rolls back into the Bundesliga on September 18. Opel and its partners are already entering the ninth season in succession – true to the stadium anthem “You’ll never walk alone”, which echoes at all home games at Anfield Road in Liverpool, Signal Iduna Park in Dortmund and the OPEL ARENA in Mainz sounds.

“It gives us great pleasure to work with such professional partners as Jürgen Klopp, BVB and Mainz 05. We have been in partnership with our brand ambassador and the two clubs since 2012 and share common values such as ‘exciting’ and ‘approachable’”, says Opel Germany boss, Andreas Marx. “We are looking forward to the ninth year of our collaboration and wish Jürgen Klopp and both Bundesliga teams a good start to the season.”

Together with the clubs, Opel has put various unusual ideas into practice – much to the delight of football fans. The “BVB quiz taxi” has long enjoyed cult status on social media. An Opel Grandland X plug-in hybrid recently played a leading role in three new episodes of the series. As a “BVB quiz taxi”, the SUV drove mostly electrically and almost silently at the BVB training camp in the Swiss town of Bad Ragaz. So far, Opel has reached almost two million viewers with the entertaining episodes on all digital platforms.

During the short summer break, several BVB players and officials acted in front of the camera and demonstrated their qualities as actors and entertainers in cooperation with Opel. The BVB stars Mats Hummels, Axel Witsel and five others put two of Opel’s electric models centre-stage – the Corsa-e and the Grandland X Hybrid4 (fuel consumption according to WLTP1 1.4-1.3 l / 100 km, CO2 emissions 32-29 g / km; NEDC2: 1.6-1.5 l / 100 km, 36-34 g / km CO2). The commercial will run on various popular digital platforms at the time of Borussia’s Bundesliga start on September 19 (BVB versus Borussia Mönchengladbach).

For 12 years now, Opel partner club Mainz 05 has been playing in the upper house of German football without interruption. The Bundesliga team has to travel to Leipzig for the away game on the first day of the new season. In the OPEL ARENA, they will first take on the newcomers from Stuttgart on September 26. However, the first match for 05 is this weekend against TSV Havelse in the DFB Cup. Fans will be present again for the first time and can sing their anthem: “You’ll never walk alone.” Which has long been the motto of the cooperation between Opel and its football partners.
