After the purchase of an electric vehicle, charging should be as easy, comfortable, and price-adequate as possible. Thus, the technology company &Charge and Hyundai Motor Europe are announcing a cooperation to push e-Mobility beyond its boundaries and making EV charging more affordable. &Charge has established unique sustainable energy cycle – EV drivers collect bonus points (&Charge kilometers) for various activities that can be redeemed free EV charging.

As part of the cooperation with &Charge, Hyundai Motor Europe is one of the first car manufacturers to use the unique &Charge service, which enables EV drivers to reduce their Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) by charging their electric vehicles free of charge. In the &Charge app, customers have the opportunity to collect "&Charge kilometers" (charging credits) in a variety of ways.
These collected "&Charge kilometers" can then be easily redeemed for Hyundai charging vouchers for Charge myHyundai. Effect for the user is, that those charging sessions are free of charge.

In addition to a sustainable bonus program in which customers across Europe can shop in over 1,500 partner online stores and collect &Charge kilometers in return, EV drivers primarily collect &Charge kilometers through ratings and real-time feedback (e.g., defects, soiling) on charging stations and the charging process itself. To engage its users frequently &Charge has established a unique gamification approach in combination with a true social experience. I.e. beside collecting &Charge kilometers users also collect so called EV enthusiast points which allow them to climb up the different levels and grant them more benefits on the &Charge platform. Also the social experience is quite important since &Charge users are part of a huge community of EV drivers.
An easy to use and reliable public charging infrastructure is crucial for the overall success of eMobility. So EV drivers are an important part of the quality and feedback process and can therefore proactively contribute at any time. If there is any external soiling, impairment or damage to the charging station, this can be reported in real time. This gives Chargepoint Operators (CPO) the opportunity to detect defects at their own charging stations even more quickly.

With its unique Software as a Service model, &Charge is an innovative technology company specializing in the collection, processing and provision of comprehensive, quality-assured charging station data. The special feature of the SaaS model is the so-called crowd-sourcing approach, which the company has further developed in the last three years. Since the actual market launch in 2019, &Charge has established the first sustainable bonus program for e-Mobility in Europe, built a strong community of EV drivers and laid the foundation for the crowd-sourcing approach.

"We are very pleased to partner with Hyundai Motor Europe to make EV driving more affordable and to jointly work on the success of e-Mobility. In line with our slogan "We make charging more affordable, accessible and fun", we offer EV drivers various services related to EV charging to make it even more convenient. This partnership highly pays off as a new model for success and is an innovation in the rapidly developing e-Mobility market," emphasizes Simon Vogt, CSO and Co-Founder of &Charge.

“By entering into this exciting cooperation with &Charge, Hyundai will help make e-mobility and EV charging even more affordable for our customers,” says Andreas-Christoph Hofmann, Vice President Marketing and Product at Hyundai Motor Europe. “This partnership further underlines our commitment to increasing EV use throughout Europe.”

About Hyundai Motor Europe HQ

Hyundai Motor Europe HQ was formally established in 2000 with its main office in Offenbach, Germany. It is the regional headquarter responsible for over 40 markets with more than 3,000 outlets, taking a 4.4 per cent market share in 2021 (ACEA data). 72 per cent of the vehicles Hyundai sold in the region are models engineered, tested, and built in Europe to meet the needs of European customers, served by the company’s extensive European infrastructure. This includes two factories primarily serving Europe: in the Czech Republic and Turkey.

In 2020, Hyundai Motor Company consolidated its position as a leader in the era of electrified mobility with the launch of IONIQ, a dedicated BEV line-up brand built on its innovative Electric Global Modular Platform (E GMP). In 2021, more than 14 per cent of Hyundai cars sold in Europe were zero-emission vehicles (ZEVs), including IONIQ 5, the first model in its new IONIQ line-up brand, and the fully-electric subcompact SUV KONA Electric. This makes Hyundai one of the leading manufacturers in terms of fleet share as well as total sales of zero-emission vehicles in Europe, as the company transitions to becoming a Smart Mobility Solution Provider.

In IONIQ 5, as well as upcoming models IONIQ 6 and IONIQ 7, Hyundai combines its customer-centric, zero-emission vehicle experiences – such as ultra-fast charging, spacious interior, and battery-supplied power – with future innovations that blend design, technology, and services to enhance in-car and out-of-car lifestyle experiences. Hyundai’s Prophecy and SEVEN concept cars already showcase what the company aims to achieve with the next IONIQ models. More than 85 per cent of Hyundai’s line-up in Europe is now available as an electrified version, and the company plans to electrify its entire European line-up beyond 2025.

Hyundai offers its unique Five Year Unlimited Mileage Warranty package with all new cars sold in the region, providing customers with a five-year warranty with no mileage limit, five years of roadside assistance and five years of vehicle health checks.
