Growth Garage Business Incubator of the Advanced Materials Division of the Mitsubishi Chemical Group is calling upon entrepreneurs, innovators and founders aiming to lightweight parts and applications with carbon fiber-reinforced composite materials (CFRP) to submit their big idea to the Composite Engineering Challenge. The winner will receive a support package valued at $25,000 tailored to their current business and product development stage. This Challenge is open to everyone around the globe striving to lightweight with CFRP and scale up their production.   

“To meet the challenges of tomorrow, we have to nurture the visionaries of today,” says Tim Vorage, Senior Manager and Founder of Business Incubator Growth Garage. ”We foster open innovation and collaboration with innovators and entrepreneurs to implement great ideas, uncover new growth opportunities and positively impact the well-being of people and the planet.” 

The ambition of this Engineering Challenge is to unlock the full potential of modern composite materials and scale with advanced production technologies. For that purpose, winners will have access to technology resources and support in material selection, tool design, scalability and design for manufacturing. In addition, the winners will get access to industry experts, the Mitsubishi Chemical Group’s corporate venture capital arm and the wider network to create global exposure. The Challenge will close on December 31, 2022. A jury team of experts and industry leaders will select the overall Challenge Winner.

A special Innovation Award will be given to the most impactful, differentiated, and innovative idea. The winner of the Innovation Award will receive resource and scaling support valued at $10,000. Finally, together with the Mitsubishi Chemical Group’s partner Wevolver, a Community Winner, chosen by voting, will receive honorable recognition and a featured article on Growth Garage’s and Wevolver’s website
