MedtecLIVE with T4M presents the entire value chain of medical technology from 23 – 25 May at the Exhibition Centre in Nuremberg. At the trade fair and the accompanying MedtecSUMMIT congress, medical technology manufacturers, suppliers, service providers and users meet for a personal exchange about the industry and discuss the latest processes and products in the manufacture of medical technology. A total of 397 companies are exhibiting at MedtecLIVE with T4M. Most are from Europe, but the 114 international exhibitors also include exhibitors from the USA, Japan and China.

In addition to the presentation of materials, components, machines and technologies as well as innovations, the trade fair offers space for inspiration, ideas and impulses. For three days, everything revolves around regulation, new manufacturing processes, IT and software. Visitors can also expect an extensive programme of impulse lectures, panel discussions, guided tours and much more, which excellently reflects the diversity of the industry.

"With almost 400 exhibitors, it is clear that the trade fair, which alternates annually between Stuttgart and Nuremberg, has established a leading role for itself in the south. MedtecLIVE with T4M thrives on the personal exchange between newcomers and old hands in the industry, from whose expertise everyone benefits," says Christopher Boss, Executive Director of MedtecLIVE. "The many different exhibitors, the committed partners and the attractive supporting programme provide space for exchange, knowledge transfer and discussion about the ever-growing medical technology industry."

MedtecSUMMIT: Extensive congress and lecture programme
Digitalisation, new processes in production, regulatory requirements as well as software and IT are already affecting medical technology and will continue to do so in the future. In keeping with this, the international scientific congress MedtecSUMMIT offers a wide selection of discussion rounds and lectures with 60 renowned speakers from industry, science and clinical practice. The Bavarian State Ministry of Economic Affairs, Regional Development and Energy is the organiser of MedtecSUMMIT. On 23 May, the programme starts parallel to the fair and is open to all visitors. Starting with a session on the European Medical Device Regulation (MDR), the programme will focus on important trend topics over the three days. One of these is transformation for successful market entry for companies that want to benefit from the great growth potential of medical technology. But the topic of digitalisation is also represented with sessions on cybersecurity, virtual reality, clinical robotics and intelligent implants. Furthermore, regulation plays an important role in the medical technology industry: current topics in the programme are regulatory requirements for artificial intelligence in medical devices, DiGA regulation, IVDR update and MDR.

Networking through B2B partnering
Within the framework of MedtecSUMMIT, B2B Partnering offers the opportunity for effective exchange with all congress participants as well as exhibitors and visitors of MedtecLIVE with T4M. For this purpose, registered participants can select their contacts online on the basis of their company profile and interests and arrange to meet on site in the partnering area. A digital pre-confirmation of the meeting by both participants ensures planning reliability.

Profiting from IndustrialSUMMIT
The IndustrialSUMMIT offers visitors to MedtecLIVE with T4M insights into the key topics of manufacturing, regulatory and design and electronics. From the development of innovative implants and future regulatory topics in medical technology to challenges in the development of software for medical devices and how to master them. In engaging presentations, industry experts from the exhibitors will provide information about the latest developments and technologies in the field of medical technology production.

Discover the highlights in Guided Tours

There will also be time to get to know the experts personally and exchange information about the latest solutions and applications. Participation is free of charge for all visitors, registration via the digital platform is required. The meeting point for the Guided Tours is at the entrance to Hall 1.

Medical World Café and Hackathon
A new feature at MedtecLIVE with T4M 2023 is the Medical World Café, an interactive format that offers participants the opportunity for a lively exchange on important topics in medical technology. These include topics relating to sustainability in medical technology, cybersecurity, material compliance and much more. At the beginning of each event, a short keynote speech by an industry expert introduces the topic. He then leads into the discussion round, where the participants exchange their thoughts, questions and ideas on the presented topic – an ideal opportunity to gain valuable insights and other perspectives and to network with each other. The discussion rounds will take place several times a day in Hall 3C, Stand 3C-726, and will last 60 minutes.

An interdisciplinary ideation will take place under the title "Medtec Ideation: Healthcare is Teamwork – Powered by Technology in 2040". Around 250 vocational trainees and students from the healthcare sector will be working on the future of 2040, accompanied by methodical and specialist coaches. The hackathon will focus on technologies, the patient and the topic of debureaucratisation. The trade fair serves as a source of inspiration and professional input for technological developments and trends that will shape the industry.

Space for nosy newcomers and innovative start-ups
The fair also has a lot to offer for start-ups: The Start-up Area at MedtecLIVE with T4M offers newcomers the ideal environment to present their products and services and also functions as a networking platform and investor pitch. In addition, the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection is sponsoring the joint stand "Innovation made in Germany", which offers young companies the opportunity to participate in the fair at attractive participation prices. On the first day of the fair, promising start-ups will also be awarded prizes in a contest. One of the sponsors, EIT Health, has offered prize money of 15,000 euros for innovative ideas and projects from the industry.

Partner country Ireland
At this year’s MedtecLIVE with T4M, one particular country will be in the spotlight for the first time: Ireland. The green island at the north-western tip of Europe is not only home to many internationally important companies, but also produces many up-and-coming companies and start-ups itself. They contribute significantly to the development of the industry and make Ireland one of the largest medical technology manufacturers in the world. In collaboration with Enterprise Ireland, the government agency responsible for promoting the growth and development of Irish companies at home and abroad, MedtecLIVE with T4M is a platform for building contacts with Irish companies.

"Shaping the healthy future together"
A piece of history is being made at MedtecLIVE with T4M. Since March 2023, the working groups of the state society BIOPRO Baden-Württemberg, the network BIOVOX connect and the Forum MedTech Pharma have been jointly committed to sustainable medical technology. On 24 May at 11:00 a.m., the three parties will sign an official agreement to this effect at the trade fair to establish the "Alliance for Sustainable Medical Technology". It strengthens the cooperation between the organisations and promotes the development of sustainable solutions in medical technology.

Experience medical technology production live from start to finish

An extraordinary highlight of the trade fair is a complete production line that shows the individual manufacturing steps of a medical product in live operation. In a special area at stand 3C-432, visitors can experience the entire production line from raw material to packaging. In addition, recognised medical technology experts will lead guided tours of the production line every hour. The value chain shown illustrates the importance of networking between the individual steps within production. The respective production steps are supported by the technical expertise of renowned manufacturers.

Networking for the future

MedtecLIVE with T4M brings together Europe’s medical technology sector and thus creates an ideal platform for exchange and impulses. The network that is created and can be cultivated in the process enables strong cooperation for current and future projects. The online platform talque connects the trade fair events on site with the digital world and enables trade visitors to find exhibitors and products or to make appointments for exchange on site. In addition, the programme of the stages will be streamed live, so that visitors who are not on site on all three days can still follow interesting topics digitally. MedtecLIVE TV will also offer a comprehensive overview of the trade fair events and highlights live three times a day with various studio guests.
